Salva Madre is a non-profit ecological and cultural preservation project based in the Peruvian Amazon that is dedicated to rain forest restoration and protection. Integral to Salva Madre is creating community for the Cocama peoples and conserving this rich heritage, that is threatened by extinction. Approximately 148 acres of land contiguous with Rio Agualita has been preserved and is dedicated to rainforest restoration, re-establishing biodiversity, growing food and master plants and trees known for their medicinal uses. Affordable traditional housing and community meeting spaces will be built with your support. This educational and community sanctuary will insure the music, healing and fine arts inherent in the Cocama peoples tradition will be preserved for generations to come. People from around the world will have the opportunity to visit, receive personal healing and learn the medicinal uses of plants, the shamanic practices of the Cocama peoples and the creative arts directly from the wisdom keepers of the community.
Salva Madre is near and dear to my heart. William Llerena Murayari, founded Salva Madre in 2024 after years of witnessing the effects of trauma and irreverent actions towards his people and the Amazon jungle. I have seen and felt his sorrow and understand his concerns.
I have studied and been in retreat with William over the last four years. I continue to be inspired by his generosity of spirit and his skillful means as a musician, visionary artist and vegetalista. We have created a strong familial bond that includes my deep commitment to the preservation of the Amazon rainforest and the creative and healing practices of the Cocama lineage. I am grateful to be able to volunteer my permaculture, creative and life experiences towards the co-creating of Salva Madre. Please join me and help raise the infrastructure costs for Salva Madre.
With Much Love,
Sarah
Donations for building the infrastructure are tax deductable through my Fractured Atlas sponsorship. Please reach out with any questions or to help co-create Salva Madre in other ways. I will post photos of progress.
